This is where the Art in Art Deco came from! This is one for the bold, a striking piece of Deco furniture. The cabinet is straight forward to make, being really just a large canvas for the painted designs, but what designs. The striking painting of the Deco women was inspired by the famous society illustrator Erte. Even their hair and their robes display Skyscraper Cubism styling. We took a small illustration and blew the design up large, with a good contrasting background finish to give an almost Pop Art look to the piece, there's even an element of Pompeeian wall art about the women. Then if you add the top section on top of the cupboard you have an even more striking piece with more overt Skyscraper styling, and masses of display space.
This cabinet can be used in a variety of ways, from a bookcase to a storage unit, display cabinet, drinks cabinet or home office. It is first and foremost intended as a piece of striking art in any interior, but is also a piece of practical furniture as well. You have plenty of storage in the main section. The 2 suspended stepped side sections really give it a distinct Art Deco look, and are intended for displaying objets d'art - they have glass shelves for a lighter look. The back of these 2 side sections could be fitted with mirrors for even more effect. We've shown a few colour schemes and design variations you could have below, or we can create it in whatever colours you want. We initially designed this as bedroom wardrobes, and if you follow the link to that page you will see a lot more colour variations to give you ideas. The interior can be fitted out as you like, but generally it will just be shelved. A joy to look at & use everyday. Made to order. We don't give out sizes until we've agreed a spec. with a client
