This bookcase desk was an adapted from a stand alone bookcase designed by Frankl c1927. It still has that classic skyscraper silhouette but the new design offers an even more practical piece of furniture. The desk is an extension of the bookcase worktop, and has a vertical stepped worktop support on the end. Whicj although shown as a desk it could just as easily be a sideboard, see below. The original bookcase was mahogony, but we could potentially do it in many woods & finishes, or in more typical Frankl lacquered/ painted colours - the design above used the colours from another similar bookcase, with mainly black carcase & red cubby holes & details. Below we've shown the bookcase desk in a wood finish with black keylines, or a black version with silver keylines. We can also add a drawer(s) under the worktop for smaller storage. The bookcase provides pleanty of storage in the cupboards and cubby holes, as well as display space on top of the various sections & worktop.

This bookcase desk has made some adaptions to Frankl's original bookcase. The overall height was increased for a couple of reasons; many of frankl's bookcases were designed for small New York appartments and are scaled for those. I think they would looked better with the height increased as here, to make a bigger presence in the room. Plus we needed to increase the height so the worktop was at the right height for a desk. The whole piece was increased keeping the same proportions. There were a couple of smaller detail changes requested by the customer. The dimensions of such pieces, as they are made bespoke, can be changed to your preferred sizes. The bookcase desk can be made the other way round if preferred. Such a bookcase desk is a substantial piece of furniture, and complicated to make and assemble - they are not cheap, least of all to ship. If you are on a budget these probaby aren't for you. We don't disclose dimensions, further details or prices until we've agreed a spec. with a customer.
