This is a very plain oak dining table. While Voysey did design a few larger more ornate tables, the simple lines of a bone simple refectory style table was his preferred style. It's beauty comes from the clean lines and quality oak, especially with with the lovely grain patterns of 1/4 sawn oak for the top. It also includes the 'thumb' edge moulding Voysey preferred to use on his tables, shown above inset, so it was softer to rub against than a hard edge. The table includes his favoured pegged mortice & tenon joints.
This was made as a breakfast table, to go with a set of Voysey dining chairs; although Voysey designed many tables, he always preferred the honest design and strength of the refectory style of table.
