So many of Voysey's houses had green tiled fireplaces that we thought we'd offer one. Voysey actually used several different green fireplace tiles, in various shades & sizes. These fireplaces were often surrounded by a wood surround, which could range from little more than a large simple moulding upto more ornate surrounds. The surrounds were usually either oak or painted in white or green. Shown above are a couple of examples, the LH one being a plainer oak surround framing the tiles, with a typical Voysey arched top rail. The ornate larger RH fireplace is a more generic Edwardian surround.
The green tiled hearth & backs are made to order and we could make a fireplace for you at any reasonable size requested. The hearth can be made to any size or shape, depending on the installation requirements. Opening Width: 16 inches (40.6 cm) x Opening Height: 22 inches (55.9 cm). The green tiled visible back is 40 inches (101.6cm) square. While probably of interest to a house owner or real enthusiast it does show how much of his work we can reproduce.
Voysey was skilled at reworking a design for several different uses. This fire screen is a continuation of his ideas; we reused his 'bird' air vent design (which were used in every house he built) to make a stunning fire screen. The screen creates a wonderful silhouette when a fire is lit behind it. Black finish with fine mesh backing. Continuing the idea of re-using his designs are another couple of fire screens below re-using his designs. The LH design was originally used for a hinge, the RH was a larger piece to replace some stair newels, under a handrail. Sizes supplied when ordering. We can adapt designs as made to order.
