This bathroom vanity unit manages to do something they never did, & probably never wanted to do either, & that was to produce a co-ordinated range of decorative furnishings. They were artists generally producing 1 off pieces, usually old pieces of furniture re-used. This bathroom vanity shows how you can take & adapt their ideas & designs to create new work. The result is very striking to say the least, yet looks crisp & contemporary as well. These are the pieces that establish the look & feel of your bathroom, not the shower, WC, tiles, towel rail, etc.
This is a new 3 or 4 door vanity unit, inspired by an early Omega Workshops design by Vanessa c.1917, to produce a stunning new piece of artistic furniture. The vanity unit can be made as a 3 door version, shown above, or a wider 4 door version, as shown below. Whilst very practical & offering plenty of storage, is essentially a large canvas for the hand painted designs. The vanity unit can have tongue & groove side panels, but these could be smooth if preferred. The worktop could be painted in any of the colours of the main design, but it could also be stone (marble, granite, Quartz, limestone), Corian, glass, wood, etc.. It is made to order, so you can change the sizes / proportions to suit, within reason due to the front design. It is shown with legs, which gives a clean modern look, but this could be a plinth instead, as shown below, a typical feature of Bloomsbury furniture.
Rather than follow the example of the original artists, in Omega & Bloomsbury, and decorate secondhand pieces of found furniture, we design & produce pieces from new with the designs planned from the start to create unified new pieces. As you can imagine if you were to commission a new sideboard and a large painting like this seperately they would not come cheap, we've just combined the 2. The bathroom pieces are shown in a clean new painted finish, but we can antique & generally batter these pieces a bit to give them an older look if you prefer.We can and have put this sideboard design to other new uses, such as bookcases/display units, media centres and sideboard. We don't discuss sizes or pricing until we've agreed the finished design details with a client.
These vanity units are shown on legs, while giving them a slightly more contemporary look allows the user's feet to go under the unit, so they can stand closer and is more comfortable. But we can make them with a plinth, rather than on legs, which is a more traditional way to do it and more typical of Bloomsbury furniture - see an example of a sideboard below with a plinth. The front of the vanity unit can be made in 2 ways. The designs above all show doors which are the full height of the carcase. This makes for a very clean front best suited to decorative painting. However, some clients might prefer a framed front. As well as being more expensive to make, some clients prefer the more traditional look with a framed front. However, it does mean there are more lines visible from the front, and the middle panel is visible (required to hinge the middle doors off); this is not as clean a front for painting as the full height doors.

This is a stunning vanity unit with a beautiful painted design on the doors. Our aim is you can have a practical piece of art in your bathroom & use it every day. While the Omega didn't do any bathrooms as such (bathrooms were still a new fangled invention c.1913) there are examples at Charleston farmhouse later on, by some of the same artists. The vanity unit is complemented by some of our painted Bloomsbury style wall mirrors (see mirrors section), which use the same colours & tones as the vanity. The wall mirrors can also be supplied as a wall mirror cupboard, offering storage at a convenient height. Depending on the vanity size you want and your preference you could go for either a large wall mirror or a small single one, or a pair to match the twin basins.We can supply other painted furniture to complete the bathroom if you want, ie bath panels, cupboards, panelling, etc.. Bear in mind the size of the vanity you want and access with it to your bathroom. As a double 4 door vanity you obviously need a decent size bathroom to accomodate this.
