This is a close copy of CR Mackintosh's bed for the 'White' bedroom at Hous'hill, 1904. It is a single bed, painted white, with a stencilled valance. The suite was painted at a time when the square was becoming the dominant motif (over the organic 'Rose') in his work.
The bed end has 3 cut-out squares and square posts. The valance features stencilled Mackintosh 'roses', within a square grid ( which echoes the wall clock ). Muslin curtains are hung either side of the sleeper. The bed holds a 3ft divan base. Made to order. The whole looks very elegant against light grey walls, with a stencilled frieze.
For evidence of Mackintosh's influence, and to see a similar bed by the artist Carl Larsson.
Although this might have serious Mackintosh fans bemused, this bed would actually make an elegant double four poster bed. The stencilled valance is quite expensive, you could use a muslin valance to achieve a similar effect cheaper.
