This slightly unusual chair was designed by the artist Felix Del Marle, c. 1927. Del Marle designed some very interesting De Stijl furniture, but was not part of the original Netherlands group. Del Marle came under the influence of Mondrian, after the latter moved to Paris. The odd angled seat & back rest were designed to match an octagonal dining table, but actually make for a comfortable chair to sit in. The colours, black & white, are typical De Stijl colours. Made to order.
