This is one of Gerrit Rietveld's best known and recognised table designs, the 'Military' table. It was made for a Military school initially, and was made it wood. It was later painted white with black ends to the rails. It shows an interesting variation on the 'Rietveld joint'. At this time he was looking for ways to mass produce furniture and he explored using bolts to assemble the pieces (an early precursor of flat pack furniture). The table was made in several versions, both in sizes and woods/finishes. It can be finished in any combination of colours you like. The dining tables generally come in lengths of 1.6M or 2M, but we can make them to any reasonable length you require. One of the features of this table is the visible fittings holding legs & rails. There was a matching chair that went with this set, see the chair section, which we could also supply. The dining table can be made to whatever size you want. It could also be made either as a square breakfast table or a coffee table. These table & chair sets are made to order.

The tables can be finished in many colours. Originally made in pine, they can be made in oak, or maybe another wood. Or have them in a lacquered finish, we've shown some typical Rietveld De Stijl colours above or whatever colour you want. You could combine a lacquer with a wood top for example. The red versions look especially striking. The ends of the rails can also be finished in another colour, for a subtle contrast.
Rietveld designed several dining tables using his typical style. Rietveld stained furniture as well, so this is in keeping with his style. Rietveld often kept his furniture plain in just 1 colour or in a wood finish. They were often produced in wood finishes, especially when Van Groenekan was making them, as shown above. The red dining table above is very dramatic, a Wow piece in any interior. nearly any combination of Rietveld chairs would go with this, from all white (to match the table top), to all red (to match the table base), or the black & red shown below.
This table was made for a client who wanted this look for the table, but it was lacquered black, to match existing chairs they had. This table has a simpler more solid base, being based on the 'Military' pieces of furniture, yet looks visually lighter because the top sits on cross rails. The size is L 180 x w 90 x ht 83 cm. As it is made to order it could be made to whatever size & finish you want. The originals often had a painted finish. This side lamp table was produced to go with the dining table above. Again, the style is based on his 'Military' pieces of furniture. Size L 50 x w 50 x ht 45 cm. As this is made to order it could be any size or colour you like. The height could be increased to make a lamp table.
It is interesting to consider if these pieces above were designed as stools or lamp/coffee table, as they fit both uses. These military tables can also be made in any size & finish you want, as they are made to order.
The Military chairs, shown above, share a very strong graphic look with the dining tables. They share the same light look as the tables, no doubt because the tops were raised above the rails so you could see light between them. The legs are also bolted to the rails, and the seats & backs have visible bolt heads to secure them.
