This wonderful Gothic clock is not based on a Wm Burges piece, but you just know he would have loved it ( it could easily have been one of the towers he designed ). Standing at nearly 7 feet tall, this would dominate any room creating a real Wow factor.
It's architectural form is generally in the style of medieval Italian towers, and in particular the Tower in the Piazza Della Signoria, Florence. See photo below. It is painted brick red, with painted mortar lines all over, and a painted Gothic 'Rose' face design. All topped off with a brass flag on it's pole. The whole piece possesses great charm. Made to order.
Above top LH the Tower in the Piazza Della Signoria, Florence. This was the basis for the design of the clock, but many of the Italian towers were in brick, hence painting it this style. Above Rh is a photo of the clock & a gilded & painted William Burges mirror. This style of furniture really draws on Burges's work for inspiration.
