This is an actual Burges design, the bottom part of a bureau called the 'Fry' cabinet. This original piece was one of the first 3 pieces of painted Gothic furniture by Burges. It shares many of the same decorative ideas of the other 2 pieces; the door frames have similar designs to the 'Yatman' cabinet while the doors panels are similar to the 'Flax & Wool' wardrobe. While the typical Burges decorative treatment of flat surfaces is apparent the long strap hinges had not appeared yet. This piece would make a great bathroom vanity unit in any size of bathroom, small or large, giving a freestanding piece of furniture look to your bathroom. The top can be supplied in stone, marble, mosiac, painted, etc. The sink shown here is an inset basin, but it could be an undermounted or sit-on sink. We could make this to order, and adapt the sizes or proportions or colours to suit. It is shown with a small upstand. We can also make a matching mirror or mirror wall cabinet to go above this.
