Built-in bookcases
This is a really elegant solution for a small living room. The De Lempicka painting firmly establises
the Deco look of the whole piece & the navy black finish adds drama, set against a dark blue wallpaper.
The marquetry fire surround adds a crispness to the overall effect, with a jazzy Deco grate. The 2 built-in
bookcases are built-in flush with the chimney wall for a clean line effect. The shelves & the sides are
lined in oak, but they can have different wood or painted colours, as the examples below. They are topped
off with one of our ornate Deco cornices, as shown below (see Deco plaster page). Maybe more people would
prefer to have a wall mounted flat screen TV than a large print (so long as the viewing height is ok), as
shown below.
