This elegant Arts & Crafts style cabinet can be used as a bookcase or display cabinet. It has many classic Voysey touches in the design, from tapered 'buttresses' legs, Shaker panelled doors, antiqued copper strap hinges, in a light to medium oak finish. The doors are quite heavy with leaded glass panels, using rippled glass favoured by Arts & Crafts designers. The top half is for display and includes glass shelves and lights inside the top, to highlight displayed items. We actually made a narrow version of this, shown above RH, as it had to fit a tight space. Later the client decided they would like another wider one for a different room (see design above LH). The glass doors could actually have stained glass panels, as the example below, with a general Arts & Crafts glass design.

The bookcase can be left natural, as Voysey preferred, as the LH sample above. Or, it could be 'slightly oiled' as Voysey specified for this particular bookcase (or lacquered / waxed would give a similar look & colour), as the middle sample above. Or if you have antique furniture in the room & want it to blend in, we can give it a darker finish, as above right. The bookcase is made to order. We don't give out sizes until we have agreed a spec. with a customer. As this is made bespoke we could change the sizes to suit, or make it a double bay wide, etc..
