Egyptian bedroom - wardrobes
How do you describe a wardrobe that looks like this? It is both a piece of interior architecture
and a piece of artwork, a large 3D scupture. The dropped heights of the sides of the robes with
the central higher middle section were inspired by Egyptian buildings and gateways. The
central section, with it's sloped sides, was taken from Pylon building shapes, as was the change
in depth between the front section and the sides. The large figure paintings on the
doors really make the piece, combining traditional style figures and heiroglyphs. The robes can be
supplied in any number of odd or even doors - we would just add further robes on the ends of the
runs.
This 3 door wardrobe internally can be fitted out any way you want. This is a complicated wardrobe
to make and handpainting robes like these takes skill and time to get right, being done the same way
as thousands of years ago, hence they are not cheap - you are essentially ordering a bespoke run of
wardrobes and a bespoke large scale painting (which just happen to be combined in one piece). The
wardrobe can be a freestanding or built-in piece of furniture. The painting can be left clean and
contemporary, or distressed to look more antique. We can decorate this anyway you want and in any
colours you want. Made to order, we don't disclose sizes or prices until we've agreed a spec with a
customer.
