This design somehow typifies our new Egyptian designs, while firmly influenced by the past it still looks quite contemporary. There is an almost Pop Art sensibility to some of these designs. The top section has a visually strong shape, influenced by the splayed shape of Pylon buildings and gates from Egypt. The top is mounted by the typical concave shape cornice. The shelves can either be solid or glass, depending on how you would like to use the cabinet; glass shelves being more suited to display of Objets D'Art or china/glasses, solid shelves for books. This piece can be used for several purposes, from display unit, drinks cabinet, bookcase, home office use, etc.
The base itself is actually an interesting shape; basically it is a simple 2 door cupboard, but the decorative painting in traditional style really makes the piece. The sides are painted with flat heiroglyphic panels. The interior is fitted with 1-2 shelves usually. As well as a painted worktop you could also use marble, granite, quartz, glass, Corian, limestone, whatever you like. The base is fitted with 2 polished brass sled legs, as much Egyptian furniture had basic sled feet for transporting it. The painting can be left clean and contemporary, or distressed to look more antique. Made to order, we don't disclose sizes or prices until we've agreed a spec with a customer.
