Egyptian style - Mirrors

This classic Pylon shaped mirror frame would make a dramatic impression in any interior - it is virtually a piece from a movie set. It can be supplied without a cornice, for a cleaner more modern look, or have a typical style cornice. Painted with heirogyphs on the verticals and winged sun disks on the cross rails. Within reason we can adapt the size to your requirements. They can be left with a newly painted look or distressed for a more antique look or made from wood. Made to order, we don't give out sizes or prices until we've agreed a spec with a customer. Shown below is a large version of the mirror is positioned above an equally striking inverted Pylon shaped console table cupboard, to show how you can combine such pieces. Both the mirror & base have a strong Art Deco Egyptian Revival feel to them. The base console was painted black with mainly light heiroglyphics surrounding a winged Isis. The Pylon shaped mirror frame, a reflection of the base shape, was made with a golden Bird's Eye maple finish, with black heiroglyphics on a light ground. The mirror frame has winged sun disks echoing the large base Isis winged design. The actual mirror frame included a bevelled mirror, for a classier look - but real mirrors are always a problem to shoot properly. These mirrors are expensive for what they are, we probably won't make them unless part of a bigger commission or unless the price justifies it.

Above we've shown the base with a matching style mirror frame, which will bounce light around your interior. The mirror frame is also pylon shaped, the reverse of the base shape. It can be in a wood finish, or painted to match or contrast with the base. And below we've shown work in progress photos as this comes together; we'll add more photos as this nears completion.

It is easy to focus on nice designs and finished pieces, but furniture making is a practical business. Above we show a new console table & mirror being assembled, ready for painting. You can see the final shapes nearly finished in the last photos. We will post more updates shortly on this piece as it progresses. A test piece is made for the cornice moulding. Full size design drawings are produced for the artist to work to.
