Well isn't this a stunner of a bookcase, it would make a real Gothic presence in any interior. In many ways it is quite a conventional breakfront bookcase; but what makes it are the large Quatrefoil base door panels, and to a lesser extent the cornice detail. This could look stunning painted, especially with some ornate Gothic patterns in the Quatrefoil door panels. Of course wood, especially Oak in it's various finishes, will remain ever popular for this style of bookcase. The breakfront always adds good interest to a bookcase. The back panel can be smooth or with a tongue & groove look. It can also add interest to have the back panel in a contrasting colour. This Gothic bookcase has a definite architectural shape and offers plenty of storage and display space, making them suitable for several uses, from bookcase to home office, kitchen dresser or bar for examples. We also showed a couple of options for the cornice detail below. We are considering an alternative Quatrefoil design, shown below, which is potentially more defined in design. We could also make the top of the bookcase more overtly gothic if you want.
As is often the case, especially in the past, we didn't have time to take good photos of the bookcase, and customer's rarely send us photos of them once they're using them. So the bookcase is shown made in mainly MDF sitting in the workshop. The bookcases are shown as a triple bay version, but they could be a single, double or 4+ bays, or to fit a corner. Although shown as a freestanding bookcase they can be built-in. The bookcases are made bespoke to order, so we can adapt the dimensions to your requirement. We can change the colour or finish or wood. The shelves are adjustable. Due to the size of a bookcase delivery & access can be a problem and expensive; so we will usually suggest they be supplied in sections for straight forward assembly in the room they will sit in. We don't do quotations until we've agreed a spec. with a client.
