Gilbert Rhode Bathrooms
This is a stunning new Deco bathroom vanity design, inspired by a Gilbert Rhode design from c. 1935. If this was in wood it
would look quite ordinary, but the red & black give it a strong visual look. The asymetric shape further enhances the graphic,
almost De Stijl, look. All the straight lines / boxy shapes are softened by the wonderful round handles, made bespoke for this piece.
The round shape is picked up in the undermounted sink & the mirror on the wall unit. We've shown some variations of the vanity
unit below. The vanity unit is fitted with 1 shelf internally & the back would allow pipework to exit through it. The wall
mirror unit has 2 doors, with 1/2 mirror per door. It is a shallow depth unit & can have 1 -2 internal shelves. It
is painted with the same asymetric design & colours as the vanity unit. We could make this exactly to your requirements,
as made to order. We can also adapt the design anyway you want, and you can also choose any colour you want.
The vanity unit above is shown either with or without an upstand, so you can choose. An upstand, even a small one, is
useful at the back of a vanity to drop water going down the back of the unit, & give a crisper visual edge where the vanity
worktop meets the wall. The upstand height matches the front frame thicjness, for visual unity.
Maybe you have the space & would prefer a double vanity unit? Shown above are a couple of variant designs for a double vanity.
The left hand picture of the vanity & wall units shows a more visually balanced way to treat a pair of these. The right picture
shows a double asymetric version. The bottom design is double asymetrical, with a central frame. Your choice.
You can further elaborate on the circle theme of the vanity & wall mirror with this style of round towel rail. Shown below are
lots of colour variations for the vanity unit. The main carcase is shown in black or white, but there is no reason it couldn't
be another colour, or maybe even combine a wood & colour finish for the piece. Made to order.
