These designs were for a library in a family home in Miami Beach. The room, before being remodelled had 2 doors & 4 slim vertical windows, which were all removed except for 1 door. The aim was to build bookcases around 3 walls to create a private study and TV room. We produced several designs for the bookcases; the designs shown on this page all attempt to convey various Deco detailing. The panelled doors of the base had the panels runs across 2-3 doors to make visually a single wider panel. The library bookcases can be painted a neutral/minimalist white or with a a range of wood or painted finishes, such as the pastel colours of Miami version above.
tHere are several variations to the basic layout of these bookcases. They range from minimal flat faced doors to panelled doors. Then we used various design details on the vertical columns and the decorative capitals and possibly ornate crown cornice moulding, all strong Deco details. The stepped shapes were also added to the feature sofa recess, allowing space for a piece of art on the wall behind the sofa. The wall oppisate the sofa will have a flat screen TV. The room also was to include a wet bar in one side section, shown with a large mirror behind it.
These bookcases were built to the ceiling and wall to wall. Although shown here built around 3 walls, they can be an L shape on 2 walls, or as a run along 1 wall. The bookcases were a combination of book storage, displaying artworks and wet bar. As they are made bespoke they can be made to the exact sizes you want. We've shown a few finishes for ideas, but as made bespoke we could potentially make them in whatever finish you wanted. We could make up a whole home office in this style if you want. As made bespoke we don't discuss prices until we've agreed an exact specification for the bookcases.
