One of our own Art Deco Skyscraper style bookcases or display units that certainly makes a visual impact. These would have a real presence in any interior or home office, capturing that great stepped outline of the skyscraper era. We adapted these wider bookcases from the narrower versions we designed, shown below. The wider versions obviously offer much more storage and display space or if you need a bigger piece of furniture for the scale of your interior. Any such bookcase designs always draw on the influence of Paul Frankl's original pieces. The base is a relatively straight forward piece, it's the top sections where the real interest visually is. Below, we've shown a couple of narrower versions of the bookcases, to show how designs and proportions can be adapted to your requirements; we show many more of these narrower bookcases here. There are also pages showing these used for a media entertainment center or a bar.
The base comprises cupboards with a shelf in each and open shelf space in the middle (this could have a door as well if prerred. The upper sections mainly have doors following the stepped outline, with shelves inside. The middle section can be left open, so you see the wall colour behind, or it can have a back if preferred. All topped off by top boxes to complete the Skyscraper look. As these cabinets are made to order we can change the sizes & proportions to your requirements and can finish them in a wide range of finishes & colours, and we've shown many examples of different looks below to give you some ideas. We could make up a wider run of bookcases or a whole home office in this style if you want. We don't discuss design or prices until we've have agreed a specification with a client.
