Unmistakeably Art Deco in style these designs are definately a new take on the style. The basic cabinet shape is a very straight forward looking piece, with a typical boxy shape. However the panels are based on Deco era Cubist patterns with a striking colour pattern. These are original designs but definately capture the look of Deco; the minimal shapes, stepped in plinth, and especially the panels are all strong Deco design elements. The clever thing that allows the whole design to run across both doors is the 3 sided door frames. The door designs are made using marquetry veneers for a very classy look. The marquetry requires a high level of skill to cut it accurately. We could use veneers of your choice if preferred. The door frames echo the panel lines. Or we could do the design full size across both doors (as shown below).
The unit can have a hand painted or lacquered finish, or you can have wood finishes as well. We've shown several colour combinations below to give you an idea of how we can play with the designs and colours. The cabinets can be fitted out as you prefer, but are generally are supplied with 1 or 2 shelves. As these cabinets are made to order we can change the sizes & proportions to your requirements. We don't discuss sizes or prices until we've agreed a spec with a customer.
You can change the design of the doors as well. Above left is shown a typical Shaker style door, with 1 marquetry design panel per door. Or you can have flat doors with the design spread across both doors, as above right. Also shown is one of our table lamps, with a Geometric marquetry veneer design, which is close to the door design.
We've shown a similar but different design pattern for the doors in the 2 cabinets above, with the design using the full size of the doors, rather than a framed door option. The LH cabinet is made with marquetry veneers while the RH one has a painted design. The colours could quite easily be varied for either version.
We can do this style of cabinet as a bookcase or display unit. We can make it to whatever size you want (within reason for the door design) or whatever wood or colour you prefer.
