This is a new selection of Art Deco bookcases & cupboards, inspired by a Gilbert Rhode design from c. 1935. It is amazing how contemporary & modern this furniture looks, especially shown in a Deco room setting as shown. The asymetric shape further enhances the graphic, almost De Stijl, look. The top shelf of the bookcase was omitted, to echo the open ended asymetric side of the base. All the straight lines / boxy shapes are softened by the wonderful round handles, made bespoke for this piece; they really make this piece. But you can specify any handles you like. Fitted with interior shelves.
The colours are bespoke finished to whatever you want, from muted Deco colours to clean modern finishes. The frame carcase & doors can be finished differently. The bookcases can either be hand painted or lacquered, with matt, satin or gloss finishes as you prefer. We could make this exactly to your requirements, sizes, etc., as made to order. We've shown a selection of colourways below to give you some ideas.
We could make the bookcase as a double width version. If made as a double, the base can be treated 3 ways as shown above, either symetric or asymetric. For a double version we would add the top shelf back for structural strength.
Although most of these designs are shown as open shelved bookcases, we could also do a totally enclosed bookcase, with 2 full height doors, as shown above. Or do this as a low bookshelf?
