Furniture as Art! This stunning dining table is made by the Cubist pattern Marquetry veneered top design. The design was taken from a Walter Dorwin Teague design for a Kodak camera, but it transferred wonderfully to the table top. The base comprises of 2 freestanding sections, but we could supply a different base if you prefer. The base could be veneered in any of the top woods you prefer, or it could be lacquered. Besides, it's the top you see not the base. The Abstract top looks wonderfully classy, and being finished with several layers of lacquer it is hard wearing for every day use. There is also a matching coffee table we can supply. The dining table can, within reason, be made to whatever size you want - there are practicalities involved in using various wood veneers, especially due to sheet sizes. We can also choose wood veneers that you prefer. Marquetry is a highly skilled craft, but it offers such quality to a piece of furniture. Made to order. The table shown is 1.9M long. The 'Giraffe' design was originally produced by the British Omega Workshops c.1913 as a 2 door cupboard. The cupboard was one of several pieces of marquetry veneer work they produced. The Giraffe is an early example of Cubism, especially applied to furniture, and makes a striking design. Large pieces of veneer work requires a high level of craft skill to execute well and requires larger sheets of veneers. It is not a cheap table. The base is quite simple and made of stained wood, but could be painted. The table top is clear lacquered for protection, but you could also add a sheet of glass for long term durability.

We can supply the 'Giraffe' design as a breakfast table or a larger dining table or a smaller coffee table, as shown below. As made to order we can adapt the sizes so long as we keep these proportions. We don't discuss prices until we have agreed a spec. with a customer.

The above wardrobe middle 2 doors are accurate to the original piece of furniture with this design. We extended the piece to produce more storage and a stepped Deco profile. It has great presence in a room as either a bookcase or storage cabinet.
