Marquetry handles
We've been playing around with some Walter Dorwin Teague design ideas for some time now, and using his original
pieces to produce new work with the same styling. These handles have a Geometric Cubist pattern, and can be made
in either marquetry veneer or painted finishes. The handles themselves are quite simple in shape, they just act
as a surface for the pattern. We've shown a couple of finishes, but you could have these in whatever finish you
wanted. But they would add a real wow to any piece of furniture; we've shown them below on a cupboard and a wardrobe,
to show that the handles can be scaled to the size of the furniture. These could also be used for kitchen or
bathroom units and other pieces. The handles could be made from most woods. Marquetry is a skilled handcraft, and each
design is labourously cut and assembled one piece at a time. Due to this it is not cheap - but then what
value do you put on using something beautiful and practical everyday? The handles are gripped from the side, to avoid
the marquetry being handled. We generally only supply these as part of a furniture order - made to order.

The above photo shows typical veneers used to build up these designs, a slow process requiring a high level of craft skill.
Generally we will only supply handles like these as part of furniture we supply.
