These green wardrobes derive their colouring from Morris's Artisan range of furniture, shown in the Morris furniture section & below. The Artisan range dated from c1861, and displayed striking new Gothic Revival furniture with this green painted finish. These wardrobes show various treatments of the robes, from plain colouring to ornate door panels. They would all establish a strong Morris look to your bedroom. They are made to order, sizes & colours can be changed, you can have 2,3 or 4 door robes, whether freestanding or built-in. The interiors can be fitted out to your requirements.
This freestanding 2 door Oak wardrobe, shows a modern version of the Morris style applied to a wardrobe. This has a more Arts & Crafts style, associated with later Morris furniture. It could have had a roof to give it more of a Red House Medieval look. Morris was first & foremost a decorative artist, so we took the same approach to designing the wardrobe. The top door panels can have various decorative Morris designs; shown above is an adaption of a Morris & Co. stained glass window.
The robe itself is very elegant in a mid Oak finish, with antiqued copper handles (made bespoke for this robe). We can design completely new wardrobes in Morris's style, be they freestanding or a run of fitted robes - with modern interior fittings - most people prefer the practicality of the fitted interior but realise it is exterior 'Look' that is the important thing. Feel free to contact us to discuss this further.
Shown above is the 'Artisan' bedroom range, c. 1861. We designed & produced a matching wardrobe to go with the range. The wardrobe is shown below, & can be supplied as a 2 door, 3 door or 4 door wardrobe. A typical feature of early Morris furniture is the use of Medieval style 'roofs' - we have shown one of the 3 door wardrobes below with this style of roof, which could be made for any of the different sized robes. The robes shown all have Morris 'Willow bough' design door panels, but we could leave the panels a plain colour or use another Morris design. As these are made to order, you can have them in any wood or paint colour finish you like, the sizes can be adapted, the interiors fitted out as you like, etc..
