This is another chair is from the early Gothic period of Morris. It dates from their earliest days at Red Lion Square, c1856. It was likely part of the on going experiments with new Gothic forms, with the added benefit of providing furniture for Morris's appartment there. The chair has an interesting shape emphasised by the colouring. The back of the chair has some nice painted panels, almost naive versions of the later Morris style of patterns. We have drawings for this chair & would be happy to make a copy for you. Made to order.
