This is a striking piece of art furniture, the bookcase while very practical & offering plenty of storage, is essentially a large canvas for the hand painted designs. The rich warm colours would make a striking feature in any interior. This 4 door bookcase design was inspired by an early Omega Workshops bedhead design by Vanessa Bell c.1917, in a typical Bloomsbury style. The bookcase sticks to the style of the original design. Rather than follow the example of the original artists, in Omega & Bloomsbury, and decorate secondhand pieces of found furniture, we design & produce pieces from new with the designs planned from the start to create unified pieces. Below we've shown several design and colour options to give you some ideas of how you can vary these.

The bookcase has tongue & groove back and side panels, but these could be smooth if preferred. The worktop can be painted, stone (marble, granite, Quartz, etc), or wood. We can also supply this as a sideboard only, which we've shown in the sideboards section. The bookcase, although shown as a 4 door version, could probably at a squeeze be made as a 3 door without losing the original proportions. We could potentially do this as a L shaped corner bookcase. It could also be built-in if you prefer that. Generally fitted inside with 1-2 shelves. It could also have either a front frame or top drawers, but these would add more lines to the front & possibly detract a bit from the design. It is made to order, so you can change the colours, and proportions to your preference, within reason due to the front design. This would be made bespoke to order, so we don't discuss sizes or quotes until we have agreed a spec. with a customer.

Design variations;

The above designs show some more options to consider. These are just to give you ideas of how such pieces can be varied as you want. The top 2 designs show the bookcase base used as a sideboard, whether 3 or 4 door versions. The bottom design shows this piece used as a media centre, a modern piece of furniture but retaining the Bloomsbury style. The Omega & Bloomsbury artists were usually painting cheaper traditional furniture they found, so we showed these bookcases with more traditional looking tongue & groove back & side panels. But feel free to ask for smooth face back & side panels, easier and cheaper as well.
