This bookcase design was inspired by a Bloomsbury cabinet to produce yet another striking bookcase, available in several sizes. This design was only part of the original painting, we took it out of context and blew the design up to the larger scale of this bookcase, it works very well we think. It would definately be the focal point of any interior, something beautiful & practical to use every day. As the bookcase is made to order we can change the size / proportion to some extent, keeping the proportions of the painted design. The carcase of the bookcase is a light wood tone, to emphasis the rich painted colours, but it could be many other finishes if you prefer. We also used this design for several other pieces of furniture such as sideboards, vanity units and tables - see the relevant sections for more information.

The bookcase whilst very practical & offering plenty of storage and display space, is essentially a large canvas for the hand painted door design. Rather than follow the example of the original artists, in Omega & Bloomsbury, and decorate second hand pieces of found furniture, we design & produce pieces from new with the designs planned from the start to create unified pieces. Having a cornice gives the piece more of a traditional flavour, and no cornice gives a more modern cleaner look. We've shown designs for 3, 4 & 5 bay bookcases, to show how as designers we can produce all sorts of variations and combinations, as these are made bespoke. The bookcases would be supplied in sections and require some straight forward home assembly. The bookcases are shown freestanding but they could be built-in if preferred. As made bespoke to order, so we don't discuss sizes or quotes until we have agreed a spec. with a customer.
