These media center design were inspired by an Omega Workshops painted wardrobe for Mdme Vandevelde, which adapted easily to other decorative uses, such as this piece. The colours and patterns are a striking example of Omega's artistic output. We took the original design idea and extended it to produce a range media center options you could have, from freestanding to built-in, a straight run to an L shape or a corner, from 2 door to 8 doors. We can do all kinds of variations to the shapes and colours. The end results are extremely decorative pieces of furniture, and practical too. You can see more variations of this in the bookcase section.
Rather than follow the example of the original artists, in Omega & Bloomsbury, and decorate secondhand pieces of found furniture, we design & produce pieces from new with the designs planned from the start to create unified pieces. The size of TV you would like to use will play into the overall look & scale of the piece. If the TV is mounted flat on the back panel, this can be brought forward if preferred. Or the TV could be mounted onto an extendable arm, allowing the TV to be pulled out and angled when needed, and push back in afterwards for a neater look. This would be made bespoke to order, so we don't discuss sizes or quotes until we have agreed a spec. with a customer.

This is a striking piece of art furniture, the media center bookcase whilst very practical and offering plenty of storage, is essentially a backdrop for the hand painted designs. The warm colours and sketchy style would make a striking feature in any interior. This 4 door media center bookcase design was inspired by an early Omega Workshops sketch design by Vanessa Bell c.1913, with a typical Bloomsbury style. The 'Adam and Eve' original was very sketchy and washy and done quickly, as Vanessa was just working out the overall design and colours. The media center sticks to the style of the original rather than trying to produce a more professional finished looking piece - thats not what this style is about. You can see more variations of this in the bookcase section.
The media centre has tongue & groove back and side panels, but these could be smooth if preferred. The top is shown as a painted top, but could also be stone (marble, granite, Quartz, etc), or wood. It could also be built-in if you prefer that. It is made to order, so you can change the colours, and proportions to your preference, within reason due to the front design. The top open shelves could also be fitted with doors (panelled, glazed or leaded glass) if you prefer.

This media center design was inspired by a painted cupboard in Vanessa's bathroom, which could be adapted easily to a media Unit, by omitting the middle upper shelves. The colours and patterns are typical and classic Bloomsbury style. You can see more examples of this design in the bookcase section. The end results are extremely decorative pieces of furniture, and practical too. You can see more design options for this piece in the bookcase section. The doors could be removed to leave open shelves if preferred.

This is a striking piece of art furniture, the media cente whilst very practical & offering plenty of storage, is essentially a large canvas for the hand painted designs. The rich warm colours would make a striking feature in any interior. This 4 door bookcase design was inspired by an early Omega Workshops bedhead design by Vanessa Bell c.1917, in a typical Bloomsbury style. The bookcase sticks to the style of the original design. Rather than follow the example of the original artists, in Omega & Bloomsbury, and decorate secondhand pieces of found furniture, we design & produce pieces from new with the designs planned from the start to create unified pieces. Below we've shown several design and colour options to give you some ideas of how you can vary these. You can see more design options for this piece in the bookcase section. The doors could be removed to leave open shelves if preferred or the doors could be glazed.

We can also supply this as a sideboard only, which we've shown in the sideboards section. The bookcase base, although shown as a 4 door version, could probably be made as a 3 door without losing the original proportions. We could potentially do this as a L shaped corner bookcase. It could also be built-in if you prefer that. Generally fitted inside with 1-2 shelves. It could also have either a front frame or top drawers, but these would add more lines to the front & possibly detract a bit from the design. General note on media centers; We can probably adapt several of our Bloomsbury style bookcase designs to be used as media centers, or design a new one if you want. Please enquire further.
