This table design was inspired by an Omega Workshops rug design, by Duncan c. 1916. A rug design adapts easily to a flat surface, the Abstract design adapted well to a stunning new piece of artistic furniture. Duncan was quite aware of new art being produced in Europe at the time, this design shows some influence from some of those artists. it would be a fairly typical Abstract painting but for the hatch lines around the edges, which give it a visual energy. And he was not seeking perfection in his lines, as say Mondrian was, which also adds to the vitality of the design, plus it has good colours.
We can supply this design as a breakfast / dining table, or as a coffee table. With the sideboard & wall mirror you have a complete dining room suite. The base is quite straight forward and made of stained or painted wood, your choice - we kept the table base deliberately simple, like most of the Omega pieces, which were usually cheap existing furniture they just painted, as it it is just a backdrop to the table top 'canvas' design. The table top is finished with a clear lacquered/varnished finish for protection, but you could also add a sheet of glass for long term durability. The coffee table uses just a part of the design. As these tables are bespoke made to order we can adapt the sizes. We don't discuss prices until we have agreed a spec. with a customer.
