Wardrobes with stained glass panels

Mackintosh designed many stained glass panels, and many of them being used in doors and furniture. So we have used some of his designs for decorative panels in wardrobes. The robes can be finished in a range of finishes, to lacquered painted finishes to wood finishes. The glass panels can be changed in shape and colours if preferred. We've shown several wardrobe designs below to give you some ideas. Some of the robes are better suited to paired doors, ie multiples of 2, 4 or 6 doors, while some can have odd or even numbers of doors. One issue to consider with stained glass - you can through the glass (ie see shelf & clothes faintly behind). If this is a problem we can back the glass design. Or you may prefer internal lighting to light the glass design in the evening to provide mood lighting.

These robes are quite reasonable cost wise to produce, as there is a real simplicity to them. However, stained glass panels are not cheap to produce, and the more complicated the design the more expensive. If having built-in robes they are usually finally painted in the room, as they may get some marking during installation. The carcases can be fitted out however you like, and are generally a wood interior. We can use any handles you like. Bear in mind it is usually not practical to deliver completely assembled wardrobes, due to access problems and the weight - they are usually assembled in the bedroom. Made to order. Also, please ensure you have enough clearance for hinged doors. We can fit these out as you want. We don't discuss sizes or pricing until we've agreed a spec with a customer.

Another new wardrobe design in a line of classic Mackintosh style and elegant robes with stained glass. The glass design has an elongated rose design, but the really interesting original was the use of zinc (a white metal) as the backround, instead of glass. Or we could make the background glass if preferred. These robes work better with an even number of doors. Shown as a 2 or 4 door (below) wardrobe, in black - but it could be finished in another finish.

A very simple clean wardrobe design, made interesting withthe use of stained glass. The design is a typical square shaped swirling rose pattern. We've shown the difference between 2 different background coloured glasses, we could change the background colour to anything you want. The handles on the left robe echo those on a well known Mack robe, and echo the swirling rose in the glass. The RH robe has small square knobs, which Mack often used, and these echo the glass square panels, for a cleaner look.

Top left; This robe uses typical Mack offset panels and features stained glass panel designs taken from a washstand at Hill House.
Top right; Square staned glass panels feature a simple leaded design, made interesting by using mirror instead of clear glass. This design would allow an odd or even number of doors.
Bottom left; Another offset door panels robe, with the panels having a subtle curve at the top. They glass features a swirling elongated rose design.
