On first sight these bookcase designs do not have an obvious Mackintosh look. They have to be seen with the previous Derngate bookcases we designed, these were just a follow on progression of those designs. The Derngate designs were inspired by the living room dramatic walls painted black with vivid geo-metric patterns. But Mack also designed an alternate wall wall pattern on a light coloured background, so inspired by this, we adapted it to some bookcase designs.
As you can the new designs are striking to say the least, and quite unlike any other bookcases i've seen decorated. Even as a precursor to the Art Deco style, they are more adventurous than any Deco such pieces. We shown a selection of pieces and combinations below, being modular they can be combined in various ways. We also show below how we applied the same patterns to other pieces of furniture.
The bookcases can be supplied freestanding or to be built-in, primed or finished. Bear in mind it is not usually practical to deliver completely assembled bookcases, due to access problems and the weight - they can be supplied in sections for assembly in the room. Made to order. We don't discuss sizes or pricing until we've agreed a design and spec with a customer.
