CR Mackintosh - Willow Tea Room Wall candelabra

Charles Rennie Mackintosh's Willow Tea Room's painted wall sconce candelabra

CR Mackintosh designed this in 1917 for the tea rooms. It really was a large piece of art, designed to hold 3 candles. It was painted, mainly pink and green, with organic and square motif. Squares are also stencilled up the 3 verticals, on all faces, which is tricky to do. It makes a wonderful visual impact ( definately 'spook school' in style). The 3 drip trays are made from hand beaten metal. This is actually quite a complicated piece to make & even more to paint. As a domestic room requires a smaller scale than a tea room, we have reduced this in size from the original. Made to order; we probably would only make this as part of a bigger group of Mackintosh furniture, rather than make it as a one off.
