These painted Gothic beds take their inspiration from Wm Burges & the Victorian Gothic Revival style. Although ornate and highly decorative, they follow one of Pugins' 'true principles', using flat pattern on plain surfaces. The bed is strongly architectural in designs terms, from the ornate legs to the stencilled decoration. The bed is strongly influenced by Wm Burges' work, with the use of bold gothic patterns and colours, the use of 'ridge tiles' and 'Tower' legs completes the architectural feel. These beds can be made as a single, double, queen or kingsize. The beds canalso be decorated in many colour combinations, we've shown a few options below for ideas. We can also supply matching bedside tables and a full range of wardrobes in the same style. We can also supply the headboard end as a higher option, as shown in a similar bed below, or we could make this as a 4 poster bed if you want. We don't provide ballpark costs or sizes until we've agreed a spec. with a customer. These beds are bespoke made to order.
The bed above is shown in two colourways, 1) antiqued off-white headboard, with a more naturalistic Gothic scroll design on the footboard, and 2)rich red, with a more architectural arcade design on the footboard. Above left, the headboard could be made much higher as this example.
Burges left such a strong design style that you can play around with it forever. This bunk bed sketch shows that perfectly; all the Burges touches are included, turned & carved finials, stencilled designs & gilding.
